The 2020 racing season with unprecedented difficulties is slowly coming to an end and the organizers are concentrating on making an official plan for 2021.
The main racing positions are almost filled in. when the race schedule had the first draft. We take a look at the current situation in the two top racing events, F1 and MotoGP.
Eleven teams will go on to the 2021 season of the MotoGP racing tournament, and there is only one unconfirmed vacancy left next to Aleix Espargaro, Aprilia factory team’s veteran driver. The remaining 10 teams will have significant personnel changes after the year 2020 closes.
First with factory racing teams, Repsol Honda will bid farewell to Alex Marquez, who will switch to the LCR Honda satellite team after the first season with his brother Marc Marquez, to recruit Pol Espargaro, the steering wheel will end 4 year with Red Bull KTM.
Alex Marquez will still have a contract with Honda’s factory team and replace “old general” Cal Crutchlow, who will leave MotoGP after 10 years of fighting. Fabio Quartararo and “The Doctor” Valentino Rossi will swap positions at Monster Yamaha and Petronas SRT, ending 15 years (in two phases) of collaboration between the Yamaha factory team and Rossi.
The current duo of Pramac Racing, Jack Miller and Francesco Bagnaia together ‘graduate’ to the Ducati factory team in 2021. Their current drivers, Andrea Dovizioso will be “unemployed” next year, and Danilo Petrucci moves on. to Red Bull KTM Tech3 satellite team.
Suzuki keeps his frame with two high-profile steering wheel, Alex Rins and Joan Mir (who just became the 2020 MotoGP champion). Meanwhile at Red Bull KTM, Miguel Oliveira (2020 Styrian GP winner) is raised from KTM Tech3 to take the position of P.Espargaro, and will team up with his former Moto2 teammate, Brad Binder.
Accompanying the French driver is rookie from Moto2 mode, Jorge Martin (currently racing for Red Bull KTM Ajo). He is one of the three rookies to graduate from ‘with two other Moto2 champions this season, Enea Bastianini and Luca Marini, who will be teammates at Esponsorama Racing.
Regarding the scheduled schedule for 2021, the organizers of the tournament have just announced the list of 20 races that will appear next season, 2 more races than in 2019. Besides Kymi Ring, Finland (wait FIM acknowledges) there will be a debut after a year of delay, the rest of the country are familiar destinations.
